内容简介: Unlike gauging the performance of an individual firm, assessing whether a group of firms as a whole involves the efficiency of individual firms and allocation of resources among firms. This seminar the issues of assessing the productive performance of a group of firms. Farrell (1957) called this the structural efficiency. Measuring the structural efficiency of a group requires considering possible production activities and possible allocation of resources of all firms in the group. It is shown that the structural efficiency can be reduced to the technical efficiency of a hypothetical firm. Then the shadow price approach of decomposing the structural efficiency is explained. It is shown that the model of structural efficiency includes some existing methods of group efficiency as special cases.
